Godwit Eco Cottage is dedicated to those who were once the die hard hunters/poachers of birds of Chilika Lake (near Mangalajodi area) and now they are the die hard saviors/protectors of the waterfowls, the members of Sri Sri Mahavir Pakshi Surakhshya Samiti, Mangalajodi.
Godwit Eco Cottage consists of cottages made up of bamboo and mud with thatch roofing and also Swiss Tent, all with minimum double occupancy. One dormitory is added to its kitty for low budgeted and group accommodation with 8 person occupancy. One Reception counter is there to welcome its invaluable and incredible guests. All the rooms are having attached bathrooms. Rooms are having roof ceiling of bamboo tata (bamboo fabrics made up to thin bamboo strips) giving a complete natural ambience. All the rooms are well protected from mosquitoes.
This cottage village is situated in a picturesque place in Mangalajodi village about 70 Kms away from Bhubaneswar, the state capital of Odisha state in the eastern part of Peninsular India. This is also about 35 Kms from Balugaon. This village is full of bamboo and mango trees creating a natural ambience. A big banyan tree along with a peepal tree at the entrance of the village are always ready to welcome the guests with their cool breeze giving them fullest freshness and satisfaction.
Following through a short nature trail through Mangalajodi village forest one can witness the forest birds and enjoy their sounds. When one is atop the nearby mountain, he/she can have a splendid, panoramic and landscape view of the Blue Lagoon called 'Chilika'.
"JACANA" multi cuisine dining is always ecstatic and eager to serve the people better for their satisfaction and enjoyment with much unique preparations of local Oriya cuisine both vegetarian and non-vegetarian. Mainly the non-vegetarian cuisine includes the local available fish, shrimps and crabs deliciously prepared. Mainly the lunch will be served with deliciously cooked local Oriya cuisines. Main attractions in Oriya cuisine include dal, brinjal fry, saga (fried green leafy vegetables some times with lentil balls and badi), Alu bharta (Boiled Potato mixed with locally prepared spices), Bhindi bhaja (Lady's finger fry), Dahi Kanji (made from churned curd), Kanji (A traditional soup made from left over water from boiling rice and cooked with vegetables). The dinner will be with diversified choices from local recipes to continental,Chinese and north Indian dishes. The breakfast will always be a remembrance for our guests as it would be traditionally the local preparations along with availability of other choices.
Cakes (Pithas) of powdered grams like Chakuli, Kakara, Manda, Arisa etc. are delicious and very popular.
