Collective efforts has been taken by State Wildlife Organisation, Chilika Development Authority (CDA) and Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS), to study the population status, migration trend and pattern of water birds through bird banding & fitting of transmitters, avian influenza threat etc. being undertaken. Today Protection camps and watch towers have been installed in strategic locations of Mangalajodi and round the clock patrolling is also being carried out with the help of the members of the Sri Sri Mahavir Pakshi Surakshya Samiti of Mangalajodi, Chilika Wildlife Division, etc. to check poaching of birds by outsiders. Bird hunters are being vigilantly watched. These precautionary measures have been successful to avoid the unnatural death of the migratory birds. [Centre for Environment Studies, 2010]
